What is an ePortfolio?
eJargon
Artifact: Digital evidence of progress experienced, acheivements and goals over time.
Signature Assignment: An assignment that addresses two or more of the college-wide student learning outcomes. Incorporates the defined outcomes of a course and artifacts from the shared experience of a course. This type of assignment should reveal hidden learning that happened within the course through discussion, connection to text or material, doing a group project, etc... Every activity and assignment in this course is designed with intent, leading to the reflection that will take place in the ePortfolio.
Schema: Prior knowledge of subjects that students already know that becomes the building blocks on which to construct new knowledge.
Scaffolding: Supports that educators put in place in order for students to be able to build on their already existing prior knowledge.
Learning Jargon
Agency: Self-directed motivation for one's own development and learning.
Capstone Project: A linked series of assignments within a program that assess the development of students over the course of their time in the program culminating at their exit from the program. This project assesses program-wide and institutional goals.
Prezi
Reflection: Thoughtful exploration of experiences in order to notice and deepen learning.
Metacognition: Communication about the invisible thought processes that happen to monitor thought, notice and solve problems in learning, or critically think about and create new ideas.
Our ePortfolios
ePortfolios are always a process. Just putting together this presentation, we both realized things that we want to change and develop in our own ePortfolios!
